Erratum, Retraction & Withdrawal Policy

Erratum, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policy

Maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record is considered a collective responsibility. Whether an error is accidental or a matter of ethical concern, the Journal of Critical Social Sciences and Review (JCSSR) manages these situations with transparency and rigorous care.

1. Correcting the Record (Erratum)

Recognizing that honest mistakes can occur, JCSSR provides a clear path for correcting significant errors in published work. Authors, editors, or readers who identify a critical error are encouraged to notify the editorial office at [insert email address].

  • Requirements: Requests should include the article title, DOI, page number, and a detailed description of the necessary correction.

  • The Process: Upon approval by the Editorial Office, an official Erratum is published in the current issue and linked to the original article.

  • Fees: There is no processing fee (0 Pesos) for publishing an erratum, provided the author consents to the correction.

2. Retractions

Retracting a paper is a serious measure taken to protect the scientific community and the reliability of published research. Following the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, an article may be retracted if:

  • Clear evidence exists that the results are unreliable, whether due to misconduct or major computational errors.

  • The research involves unethical practices, such as plagiarism, duplicate publication, or a lack of proper participant consent.

Implementation: A formal "Notice of Retraction" is issued, explaining the specific reasons for the action and ensuring a permanent link to the original article to prevent the further spread of flawed data. Note on Fees: The Article Processing Charge (APC) is non-refundable in the event of a retraction.

3. Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors are encouraged to ensure the accuracy and finality of their work before submission. Withdrawing an article after it has entered the peer-review or acceptance phase is generally discouraged, as it can be interpreted as a sign of academic misconduct. However, JCSSR acknowledges that exceptional circumstances may occur.

  • Criteria: Withdrawal is primarily considered if authors discover significant flaws or errors prior to formal publication.

  • Approval Process: A formal application must be submitted to the Editorial Office explaining the rationale for the request. If approved, a processing fee of 1000 Pesos/15 USD applies.

  • Completion: A withdrawal is only deemed "official" once the author receives a confirmation email from the journal and the manuscript is formally removed from the submission system.
