Artificial Intelligence Policy

AI Usage Policy

The Journal of Critical Social Sciences and Review (JCSSR) recognizes the role of emerging technologies in research. The responsible use of Generative AI is permitted, provided it aligns with established ethical standards and maintains the integrity of original scholarship.

For Authors

Transparency is a core requirement for the use of Generative AI in research or manuscript preparation. Authors are expected to adhere to the following:

  • Disclosure: A clear statement must be provided identifying the specific tool used (including the version) and the exact nature of its contribution to the work.

  • Placement: This disclosure should be included within the Methods or Acknowledgments section of the manuscript.

  • Accountability: AI is viewed strictly as a supportive tool; the human author remains solely accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the work. The editorial team reviews these disclosures to ensure they meet the journal's standards for authentic scholarship.

For Editors

To protect the intellectual property of contributors and maintain the quality of the editorial process, the following protocols are enforced:

  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts, data, or images are never uploaded into AI platforms. Given that many AI tools utilize input data for machine learning, this measure prevents unauthorized leaks and protects unpublished research.

  • Authorized Use: The use of AI for internal administrative tasks, such as basic language polishing, is permitted only with the express permission of the Editor-in-Chief. This ensures that human judgment remains the primary driver of all editorial decisions.

For Reviewers

The value of peer review lies in the unique expertise and professional judgment of the reviewer. To maintain a secure and fair evaluation process:

  • Integrity of Analysis: AI tools must not be used to summarize or analyze manuscripts. The journal requires the nuanced insights of a subject matter expert rather than machine-generated overviews.

  • Data Security: Under no circumstances should any portion of a submission be uploaded to an AI tool, as this violates the confidentiality agreement of the review process.

  • Reviewer Responsibility: While AI may be utilized to improve the linguistic clarity of written feedback, the reviewer is solely responsible for the accuracy, fairness, and substance of the final critique. All evaluative content must be the original work of the reviewer.
